If you’re a coffee lover, you’ve undoubtedly visited your local Starbucks more times than you can ever begin to count. Remember when Starbucks introduced a new pink-purple swirl that seemed to be born out of a fairy tale, the Unicorn Frappuccino. Now, only Starbucks could ever describe such a concoction, “The magical flavors begin with sweet and fruity turning into pleasantly tangy.” Plus, they add, “It’s finished with pink and blue fairy powders dusted with whipped cream.” I couldn’t have said better myself.
As a general rule, every time Starbucks unveils a new drink, everyone has an opinion. Well, in this case, it was definitely a either you loved it… or you hated it. Let’s just say we’re glad the Unicorn Frappuccino was only available for a week.
Now that we’ve said all of that, it’s only fair that we introduce a whole new craze that’s been inspired by the Starbucks Unicorn Frappuccino. My friends, we are proud to present to you … Mermaid Lemonade. Thanks to The Glowing Fridge, we’ve got our hands on the perfect recipe. And yes, it is as delicious as it looks. Oh yes, it’s incredibly healthy too! This adorable Caribbean blue color comes from the powder of spirulina, an algae rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Additionally, spirulina powder helps control allergies as it has anti-inflammatory properties. Wait, it doesn’t end there either. The drink includes coconut vinegar which is similar to the health benefits of apple cider vinegar.
So, are you ready to get your hands on this beautiful and tasty recipe? We know you are. Take a look below and don’t be surprised if you make this lemonade liquid daily.
Mermaid lemonade ingredients:
3 cups of filtered water
1/2 lemon, squeezed
1 tablespoon of coconut vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
1 to 2 teaspoons of maple syrup, optional (or agave syrup)
1 / 8-1 / 4 teaspoon spirulina powder
A handful of ice cubes
Pour the water into a mason jar, or any mug, and add all the ingredients until combined. That’s it! Of course, you can also make Mermaid Lemonade a bit more “adult” by adding “spirits”.
Whenever life is a beach the answer is simple… pour in some mermaid lemonade and relax.
